Space for body and soul
The Power Yoga Institute owned by Andrea Kubasch and Dirk Bennewitz is located in the middle of the lively district of Winterhude in Hamburg with its countless shops and cafés. The two yoga teachers have been running two studios in the Schanzen district and in Hamburg Uhlenhorst for more than 15 years. The third location followed in spring 2019. But before the studio could open its doors to the yogis, the premises had to be transformed from a former boxing basement into a modern, bright and open place for relaxation. Hamburg-based interior designer, Peter Fehrentz, was responsible for this.
Former boxing basement becomes a modern yoga studio
The choice of the right floor covering was a decisive factor in the design of the premises. On the one hand, it had to be able to cope with the daily stresses and strains of a sporting environment, and on the other, it had to have a unique feel and warmth and be particularly comfortable for bare feet. The choice fell to the resilient floor covering, Modular ONE, which inspires with its unusually authentic look and feel just like real wood.
At the same time, Modular ONE is very quiet thanks to its integrated cork backing and is also pleasantly warm and robust thanks to its resilient surface made of polypropylene free of pvc and plasticisers. The generous chateau planks emphasise the spaciousness of the premises, while the light decor, Oak Urban white limed, emphasises the clear, modern and fresh design of the studio, which is entirely in white. The result is a yoga studio with lots of space for body and soul.
