Setting standards. Living responsibility.
Preventing emissions and returning recyclable materials into the production cycle, predominantly short transport routes and the use of recyclable materials characterise the company's production. No less important is the social responsibility for sustainability, which Parador has anchored as an integral part of its corporate culture and demonstrably implements this as part of its EMAS certification.
Sustainability
For us at Parador, living with high standards goes hand in hand with the responsibility of preserving nature for future generations – and at the same time bringing the environment, social issues and the economy into perfect balance. At Parador, sustainability is firmly anchored in the corporate culture and shapes daily events at the Coesfeld and Güssing sites.
Preventing emissions and returning recyclable materials into the production cycle, predominantly short transport routes and the use of recyclable materials characterise the company's production. Climate-neutral production at the Coesfeld and Güssing sites by 2025
The Parador management has decided on a catalogue of measures to massively reduce carbon dioxide emissions in production by 2025 and to make production at the Coesfeld and Güssing sites climate neutral. We are thus setting another important milestone in our sustainability management, to which the company has already been successfully committed for many years. In order to achieve the ambitious target of further significantly reducing CO2 emissions in production at the Coesfeld and Güssing sites and make them completely climate neutral by 2025, we have developed a comprehensive catalogue of measures to gradually reduce the carbon dioxide balance each year. This includes steps such as switching to 100 % green electricity, avoiding heating oil in the future and having resource-efficient production, among others.
Further measures on the topic of resource efficiency and EcoDesign criteria set out by the Federal Environment Agency have already been scheduled in order to adapt them for Parador in future product developments. For example, as part of our sustainability management, we have now for the first time surveyed the carbon footprint for the Coesfeld and Güssing sites as well as for the individual product categories. In the long term, the plan is to reduce emissions along the value-added chain.
Parador reports according to the German Sustainability Code standard
As part of our EMAS III certification, we have been publishing an annual environmental statement validated by an external environmental expert since 2016. In this statement, we communicate, among other things, our measures and results in the area of sustainability management. Another step towards doing business sustainably is the application of the German Sustainability Code (GSC), to which we are committed. The German Sustainability Code is an internationally highly regarded and applicable reporting standard for sustainability aspects.
The GSC describes minimum requirements for reporting on non-financial performances of companies. It is supervised by the office of the German Council for Sustainable Development, which works on behalf of the German federal government. The aim is to present the company's sustainability information in future in accordance with this globally recognised, uniform code and thus to significantly further develop our sustainability communication.
At Parador, only tested raw materials are used for the manufacture of healthy living products. While the use of local timbers in the production of engineered wood flooring guarantees short distances, the base material of our other floorings and panels is made entirely of recyclable materials.
Long life cycle
Once installed, all Parador products are characterised by a long life cycle due to their stable structure and durability. Wherever possible, we use materials that can be easily recycled for energy and materials. Engineered wood flooring in particular is a CO2 reservoir, which has a positive effect on the climate and demonstrably reduces the greenhouse effect.
As a brand manufacturer, Parador is comprehensively and continuously certified by independent institutions. Production processes, materials, resource and environmental management, as well as product quality, meet the high corporate values of a brand with responsibility, in addition to the legal requirements. Our quality requirement for engineered wood flooring goes beyond legal requirements, which is proved by the various certifications.
