A houseboat for life
The desire to combine their everyday city life with water and wind led the Berlin primary school teacher, Julia Haubitz, and her partner, Dave, to the joint idea of building a houseboat. The option of being able to change their geographical focus at any time was one of the reasons for the project undertaken by the hobby kitesurfers. Realising it took a lot of time and commitment.
Rustic handicraft
After the actual construction of the houseboat, it was time for the interior decoration. Wood was to be the main material outside as well as inside, to create a perceptible connection to the surrounding nature even indoors. In their search for the perfect flooring for the interior, the couple was struck by the high quality of the Parador engineered wood flooring Oak Smoked Elephant Skin wide plank. The dark, rustic-looking wood flooring with its hand-finished surface texture, which also makes the flooring a special experience in terms of feel, blends perfectly into the unusual surroundings. The flooring now complements the river panorama of the floating home and will get to see many landscapes and cities.
